Junior World Team Challenge - Sweeper Singles

RULES - updated November 2011

 

1)  This is a scratch singles competition in 2 divisions.  All entrants must hold a current  USBC Membership and not reach their 22nd birthday as of August 1, 2011, and must be members in good standing.  This event is USBC Youth Certified.  Current and former PBA members are not eligible to compete.

2) Participation:  Each squad is a separate event.  Awards will be distributed each squad separately.  Bowlers may bowl in either or both squads.  Bowlers may place in both squads as scores are not combined. 

3Squad Times:  There will be 2 squads as follows:  Tournament will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Suncoast Bowling Center, Las Vegas.

                **Note: Both squads will have a limited number of entries, and entries may close early if maximum capacity is reached.

4Entry Fee:  The entry fee is $50.00 ($18 – Lineage & Expenses, $32 – Prize Fund).  Prize fund will be paid out 100%.  No personal checks are accepted on-site..

5Prize Fund:  All awards will be paid in scholarships.  Awards will be given on a 1:8 ratio.  Scholarships will be deposited with the USBC SMART Program (Acct #8984).  Prize funds will be calculated and paid out separately for each division and for each squad.  If there is a tie for any scholarship position, the scholarship money for that position and the one immediately below it will be combined and divided evenly between the bowlers involved.  A __________ ball of choice may be awarded to the first place winners in this event.  However, any individual bowler may only win one____________ ball during the JWTC weekend.  Should the same bowler win more than one singles format side event (Sweeper A, Sweeper B, and/or Singles Shootout) - the bowling ball shall be awarded to the next place in the subsequent singles event.  Should a bowler win Survivor Doubles and one or more Singles events, the ball award shall be awarded in Survivor Doubles and any other balls will be awarded the next bowler in order of finish in the other events.  Ties for bowling ball award shall be broken using a 9th & 10th frame roll-off.

6Special Awards:  Bowling Balls from Roto Grip will be presented to the champions!

7Divisions:  Competition will be in 2 divisions, Limited and Unlimited.

 - Limited Division (189 & Under) is open to JWTC entrants with verified averages only.  Must be USBC League average on file with JWTC Team entry - no on-site average verifications will be accepted.

- Unlimited Division (190 & Over) is open to all USBC youth bowlers with no verified average required

8Format:  Competitors will bowl 3 games, moving after each game.  Total pins for the 3-game series (no handicap) will determine standings.  Standings will be maintained separately for each division and each squad.

9Conduct:  Poor sportsmanship will not be tolerated.  Undue display of temper and the disturbance of other bowlers will not be allowed including, but not limited to, profanity and kicking/hitting fixtures or equipment.    Poor conduct will be grounds for disqualification, without verbal warning or refund, by the Tournament Director.  Use of any type of tobacco products is NOT allowed.

10Dress CodeCollared shirts will not be required for these events.  However, clothing or equipment with alcohol or tobacco advertising, or with offensive material on them, will not be allowed.  Shirt must come down to the waist (abdomen fully covered when extended at the foul line).  Pants, jeans, shorts or skirts may be worn, but may not have holes or rips in them.  Shorts/shirts must be no shorter than fingertip length when standing straight with arms down at side.  All pants, shorts, skirts, etc. shall be worn at waist level (no sagging is permitted). Undergarments may not be visible.  Hats are not allowed. No sweat pants or sweatshirts may be worn.  No spaghetti straps are permitted.  Electronic devices such as Ipods, MP3 players, etc. may not be worn or used on the approach - they may be used in the settee area so long as they are not audible to any other bowler.  Cellular phones and pagers shall be put on silent mode or turned off and not used during competition. Tournament management reserves right to determine if dress is appropriate.

                - The tournament director will have the final say on all dress code issues.

11Tournament Management/Protests:  All situations not covered in these rules shall be covered by USBC rules.  Protest must be filed with tournament management in accordance with USBC Rule 329..  The decision of the Tournament Director will be final unless appealed to USBC according to rule 329.
