Updated January 2010 These rules shall govern all brackets competition in the 2010 JWTC.
1) Entry fees vary from bracket to bracket, but
will be clearly posted. Entry is
always optional. Entry fees on
scholarship brackets will be returned 100% in scholarships based on entries in
each division. (I.e. a full 32 slot
bracket will award four (4) places, a full 64 slot bracket will award eight (8)
places). All scholarship monies
will be sent to USBC’s S.M.A.R.T. program to be held in trust in the
recipient’s name.
2) Merchandise brackets may be available with the prize being
“personalized” bowling equipment. The
value of any prize will be greater that the total possible income if all spots
on the bracket were purchased. The
amateur standing rules vary from state to state.
Our merchandise brackets do not violate USBC rules, but they may exceed
the value rule in some states for prizes won in sports competition.
All entrants are responsible to know if our merchandise violates the
rules of their state’s amateur athletic organization.
3) Entry into the brackets will be available only Friday, June 25 from
1:00 pm to 2:30 pm, and on Saturday, June 26 from 7:00 am to 8:15 am.
No brackets entries will be accepted onsite outside of these times;
presale of brackets are available online at
www.bowljwtc.com .
Once all of the slots on a bracket have been sold, that bracket will be
closed to further entry. 4) All bracket entries will be randomly processed by a computer program designed for bowling bracket competition. Brackets will all be determined using the scores from games 1-5 of regular bowling of the qualifying round on Saturday, with the exception of the Team Baker Bracket which will use Baker games 1-5. . If there are not enough qualifying games to determine a winner, then 6 game qualifying series will be used to determine winners. Bracket competition will consist of a series of single game elimination matchplay rounds with opponents being determined by entrants starting position on the bracket and subsequent positions on the bracket after each game that they win. A loss means elimination for the player from that particular bracket. The games used to determine the winners will be clearly posted on the brackets itself
5) If a player does not start or complete a game for any reason, the player will
receive zero for the game.
6) All brackets competition is scratch.
7) Some entrants may get one or more byes depending on the number of
entrants in a bracket and their random position on the bracket. 8) If there is a tie between 2 opponents, the competition will continue through the next game. The winning player will advance on the bracket and use that game to determine the next match also. If there are no more games of regular tournament competition left, 5 game qualifying total pins (from regular bowling) will determine the winner. 9) If a bracket does not sell out, tournament management reserves the right to resize the bracket to fit the number of entrants, or cancel the bracket. Entry fee for any canceled bracket will be refunded. 10) Entrants are responsible to be eligible for brackets entered. To enter limited brackets, bowlers must have a verified average of 189 or less. All average verification must be according to the average verification rules of JWTC and be on file. No onsite average verifications will be accepted. Anyone who is determined to be ineligible for a bracket entered, will be disqualified from that bracket without refund and may be further disqualified from other JWTC events at tournament management's discretion. 11) Bowlers may enter as many different brackets as they choose - but may only enter each individual bracket one time. Duplicate entries into the same bracket are not allowed and duplications will be disqualified, without refund.
12) JWTC Tournament Officials will maintain the brackets using official
scoring records from the tournament. No
brackets results will be final until certified as such be the JWTC Brackets
Manager. Results will be posted when official. 13) In all circumstances JWTC rules will apply during tournament play, and if these brackets rules in anyway conflict with JWTC rules, JWTC rules will prevail. Any rules not covered here will be subject to the rules of USBC.
