Important change to our age/eligibility rule:  Junior World Team Challenge is open to ALL USBC members (youth and adult) who have not yet reached their 22nd birthday

as of August 1, 2009.  Current and former PBA (Professional Bowling Association) members are not eligible to enter our events.

Thank you for your interest in the 15th Annual Junior World Team Challenge Tournament sponsored by STORM .  We are excited about this year’s competition at the Suncoast  Hotel and Bowling Center in Las Vegas and are looking forward to seeing everyone June 24-27, 2010.

 

All bowlers will be held accountable to know the information contained on this page — Please be sure to distribute this information to EVERY bowler on your team so they know what is going on.

1.  Tournament Dates & Times:  (All times are approximate - but don’t be late - we could be on time!)

            Team Event is Saturday and Sunday, June 26 & 27,  2010 with optional special events on Thursday, June 24 and Friday, June 25.

            Early bird check-in (described below) is available on Friday afternoon.  If you’re in town Friday — beat the rush and check-in early.

  1:00 PM - 1:30 PM        Friday Survivor Doubles Tournament registration @ Suncoast Bowling Center.   If you pre-registered, look for the "express" line for speedy check-in.

  2:00 PM                     ROTO-GRIP's Friday Survivor Tournament - Space is limited so preregister!  NOTE EARLIER TIME!

  7:00 AM – 8:15 AM       Team Check-in/Brackets & Doubles Registration, team picture orders.

  7:00 AM                          Team Pictures - ALL TEAMS MUST BE PRESENT 

                                           as ALL teams will be photographed!

  8:30 AM – 9:00 AM       Team Briefing (all bowlers required to attend) at Suncoast Hotel/bowling center

  9:15 AM – 9:30 AM       STORM's Junior World Team Challenge - Opening Ceremonies

  9:30 AM – 9:45 AM       Practice (7 ½ minutes on each lane of starting pair)

  9:45 AM – 3:00 PM       Tournament play begins – Qualifying Round (5 regular games + 6 team baker games)

  4:00 PM – 7:00 PM       Team Semi-final Round 1

   Sunday, June 27   Note- start and end times subject to change based on number of entries -- please be flexible in your travel arrangements to avoid any problems.

  7:30 AM – 7:45 AM         Team Semi-final check-in

  7:45 AM - 8:30 AM          Registration and check-in for 2nd Chance Singles Tournament

  7:45 AM – 8:00 AM         Practice (7 ½ minutes on each lane of starting pair)

  8:00 AM – 11:30 PM       Team Semi-final Round 2

  8:30 AM -- 8:45 AM        2nd Chance Singles Practice

  8:45 AM -- 11:00 AM      2nd Chance Singles Qualifying - 4 Games

 12:00 PM -   2:00 PM      2nd Chance Singles Semi-Finals 

  12:45 PM - 1:00 PM        Team Finals Practice (3 minutes per lane)

            STORM & ROTO-GRIP WILL BE HOSTING A SHORT PROGRAM BETWEEN END OF FINALS AND THE AWARD'S CEREMONY.

2.    EARLY BIRD BRACKETS & DOUBLES REGISTRATION:

Friday, June 25 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Suncoast  Bowling Center.

We encourage everyone in town to stop in and beat the rush AND get first choice on bracket entries.  Note:  We will take cash only.  No credit card processing is available onsite.  To get 1st choice or to use credit cards - you must pre-enter online at our online presale shopping cart

3.                  TEAM CHECK-IN –

          Saturday morning – beginning at 7:00 AM – full teams in dress code compliance must check-in at tournament office.  Bring USBC Membership cards for every member on your roster.  All teams must check in no later than 7:30 AM.  Plan to arrive early to take advantage of brackets, doubles & team pictures! All bowlers desiring to enter brackets, doubles or order team pictures must do so BEFORE the start of the Bowler's Briefing.

 4.      BRACKETS: EARN BIG SCHOLARSHIP $$    Bracket Entry is available online thru June 12, 2010.

                 — Enter as many brackets as you like!

                What is it?

                   Competitors are randomly placed on bracket.  Format is single elimination match play.  Scores used will be from team qualifying.  We will have both Scholarship and Merchandise Brackets.   

                TEAM BRACKETS using the combined team game scores in single elimination match play. TEAM BRACKETS - $50 per team

                BAKER TEAM BRACKET using 2 game sets from Baker format - limited to first 8 entries - register online! $50 per team

 5.            DOUBLES:   Online Doubles Entry is available thru June 12, 2010

                Pick as many partners as you want!  Enter as often as you want!

            What is it?

                        You pick whoever you want to be your partner!  No matter what team or division he/she is in.

                        Based on your 5 regular games of qualifying (team event) scores.

3 divisions: Open/Unlimited Mixed, Open--Girls only, Limited Mixed (combined verified averages of 379 or under-average verification must be on file to compete in limited division)  Note:  All pairs with unverified averages must compete in unlimited division.  Divisions are assigned automatically based on averages unless specified otherwise.

                        Registration available during early bird check in and first thing Saturday morning.  Entries close at start of Bowler's Briefing. 

            Cost?

$10 per set of doubles ($5.00 per person) — must be paid as a set when registering.  Enter as often as you want, with as many partners as you want.  Prize fund returned 100% in scholarships on a minimum of 1:10 ratio.  

 

6.     FRIDAY SURVIVOR BAKER DOUBLES  sponsored by Roto Grip -- Suncoast Bowling Center - June 25th - 2 PM start 

This is separate event held on Friday afternoon for early arrivals.  Teams of mix/match doubles compete in a Baker format event.  Limited to the first 128 entries.  Cost is $54 per team.  Bowl 6 baker games of qualifying.  Top 32 teams will advance to a 32 slot bracket and compete in single elimination 2 Baker Game matches which collapses until a champion is determined.  All awards are scholarships!  For more information click on link above.  Check in & Registration begins at 1:00 PM at Suncoast Bowling Center  Click here to enter

7.            Sweeper Singles sponsored by Roto Grip - Suncoast Bowling Center - THURSDAY June 24 at 2:00 PM & 9:30 PM 

2 singles events on Thursday.  One in the afternoon, one at night.  Entry fee is $40 per squad.  Each squad is run as a separate event, so you can enter either or both squads.  Online pre-registration advised as space is limited. 

8.            AVERAGE VERIFICATION:

Coaches: For all LIMITED DIVISION TEAMS and for any bowler who may want to enter LIMITED division in Doubles Brackets or 2nd Chance Event MUST have written verification of highest season averages for each bowler on your team as of April 1, 2009 for at least 21 games.  Please include the name of your local association secretary and his/her phone number for final verification purposes.  — ALL bowlers without verified averages may only compete in unlimited/open divisions of all events.    Don't forget to send in the average verification of a newly added sub or replacement -- if ANYONE on your roster doesn't have a verified average your team will be placed in the unlimited division without further notice.  NO onsite average verification will be accepted - must be submitted in advance - fax to (253)830-0139 by June 12, 2009 for individual bowlers.  .   See Rule #10   SEE REVISED 2010 AVERAGE  RULES

LAST CHANCE FOR AVERAGE VERIFICATIONS - even if your team doesn't require it -- bowlers who want to compete in ANY limited event must have average verification on file -- fax to (253)830-0139 before June 12th.

9.      TEAM PHOTOS:  Team photos will be available for purchase during early bird and Saturday morning registration only.  Cost of pictures is $10 for a 5x7 team photo.  Group discounts are as follows for pictures ordered at the same time – 5 for $45 (T5-Team Package) or 6 for $48 (T6-Sponsor's package)--discount applies to multiple of same team only. We will attempt to have pictures delivered during Sunday’s semi-finals, be sure to stop by Sunday after 12 noon to pick up your photos.  ALL TEAMS will be photographed — it is important that you gather your full team and be present at the designated team photo location at the scheduled time.   Please see the separate picture flyer and order form.  ALL TEAMS MUST BE PHOTOGRAPHED  - have all team mates present at 7 AM in their bowling attire and wearing their smiles!  Teams who do not pick up their photos or have someone do so on their behalf, will be assessed a $3.00 per order handling/postage charge to mail them to you.

10.    BOWLING CENTER: All bowling takes place at the bowling center at the Suncoast Hotel & Casino, 9090 Alta Drive., Las Vegas, Nevada — which is our host hotel for this year.

11.  HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS — Each bowler/team is responsible for their own hotel reservations, etc.  We have a room block at the Suncoast Hotel - discounted rate for tournament is $39 per night (+taxes) Sun-Thurs & $85 (+taxes) per night Friday-Saturday  - Book early as this rate is only available for a limited time and until our block fills.  If you haven’t secured your travel arrangements yet, you might look into a “package rate” for airfare & hotel.  Mention Junior World Team Challenge to get the special tournament rate!  Be sure to consider transportation when making hotel reservations -- the Suncoast is approximately 17 miles northwest from the airport and about 15 miles away from the other Las Vegas Strip hotels.   A map is available on Host Hotel page.  ROOM BLOCK is available until May 15, 2010 unless sooner sold out.  Use booking code:  JWTC10  ROOM BLOCK IS CLOSED!

13.    TOURNAMENT RESULTS:   Official Standings for all events will be posted as quickly as possible to the tournament web site: http://bowljwtc.com

Unless specifically requested in writing — no results will be mailed out — please check the web site for standings and important information.

14.    UPDATES/CHANGES: Being we plan to use “E-Mail” and the web site for distributing as much information as possible — please be sure that we have your current information on record.  If there are any changes to your information, please e-mail them ASAP to jwtcinfo@aol.com  — also be sure we have your current e-mail address — if yours changes — let us know so we can update our records.   If you do not get confirmation of any changes submitted by return email within 24 hours, please call (253)475-1884 x101 or resend your request.  DO NOT ASSUME WE HAVE RECEIVED YOUR EMAILS OR FAXES -- IF YOU DON'T GET A CONFIRMATION OR REPLY FROM US -- CALL OR EMAIL AGAIN!

16.       2011 TOURNAMENT INFORMATION — The 16th Annual JWTC will be held June 23-26, 2011 at the Suncoast in Las Vegas, NV.

17.  Semi-Final cut information:   There is no carry forward from qualifying to semi-finals -- all teams will begin semi-final round with 0 pinfall so all have an equal chance to advance to the finals.  Total pins from regular and Baker games combined will determine advancers.

LIMITED DIVISION:  This year we have approximately 20 teams competing in the Limited Division -- the top  8    teams will advance to the semi-final round.   From there -- the top _4_ teams will advance to a step-ladder finals event. 

UNLIMITED DIVISION:  This year we have approximately _28_  teams competing in the Unlimited Division -- the top   10   teams will advance to the semi-final round.  From there -- the top _5_  teams will advance to a step-ladder finals event.

18.  Second Chance Singles Tournament:  For all JWTC registered bowlers who do not make the cut for team semi-finals!  A chance to win scholarships.  All bowling will be on Sunday, June 27th with check in starting at 7:45 AM.  Bowlers will compete in 2 divisions - Limited (verified averages of 189 & under) and Unlimited.  Bowl 4 games of qualifying.  Field is cut for semi-final round then top 3 or 5 (depending on number of entries) will advance to a stepladder finals event.  Cost is $40 per person.
